General Information

NEWCOMERS to the parish are invited to make themselves known to Father Lloyd or to one of the Welcomers, and to hand in details of addresses, telephone numbers etc. Father Lloyd is, of course, very happy to visit your home and to visit you in time of sickness etc. You are invited to make known to him or a Welcomer any talents that you have to offer. Scripture Readers and Lay Ministers of Holy Communion in previous parishes are invited to make this known to Father Lloyd if they would like to continue in these ministries.

VISITORS AND HOLIDAYMAKERS are very welcome to join us for Mass and for social events during their stay. Fund-raising and social events are held at regular intervals through the year, and coffee and tea are served in the hall after the 9.00 am Sunday Mass in Cromer and 10.30 Mass in Sheringham.

GIFT AID: Parishioners who pay income tax on wages and salaries, pensions or savings and investments are invited to sign a Gift Aid form. This enables the parish to recover from the Inland Revenue the income tax which they have already claimed from monies donated by you to the parish. Sean White will be pleased to discuss this with you in confidence.

OVERSEAS CONTACTS: For several years, the Cromer community has maintained contact with Medical Missionary Sisters in Dar-es-Salaam where they run an organisation called PASADA which cared for the victims of AIDs. Each year Lenten Alms are sent to PASADA. In return, the Sisters send us an account of how they used the money, together with pictures of some of the people being helped. PASADA is now funded by the USA and by the government administration.

More recently the community has given money to a local Dar-es-Salaam parish for use to equip a medical and dental centre. Pictures etc. can be seen on the special notice board in Our Lady of Refuge, together with a splendid plaque in the shape of Africa which was carved by one of the Africans who have been helped by PASADA.

ECUMENICAL CONTACTS
Over the last hundred years contacts between the various denominations have improved very much, and here in Cromer there are good relations between the various churches and their ministers. Each year we are invited to take part in the Town Carol Service, the Good Friday Walk of Witness and the Summer "Songs of Praise" on the pier forecourt and many other events.
